FAQ
How long does it take to service skis?
The time required to service skis depends on several factors, including the temperature of the skis and the extent of work needed. Cold skis need to warm up to ensure the service is effective. For a standard tune-up, we aim to complete the service on the same day, but more complex repairs may take longer.
Can you service my skis overnight, ready for the morning?
In most cases, yes! If you drop your skis off before closing, we’ll do our absolute best to have them ready for you by 8:30 am. However, during peak times or with late drop-offs and a high workload, there’s a small chance we might need extra time. We’ll always communicate clearly if there’s any risk of delay and work to ensure your skis are ready as soon as possible.
Do rental customers get free servicing?
Yes! All our rental customers enjoy free and unlimited servicing on their rental equipment throughout their rental period. Whether it’s a quick wax, edge sharpening, or minor adjustments, we’ll keep your skis or snowboard in top condition at no extra cost.
What types of services do you offer?
We provide a full range of ski and snowboard servicing, including edge sharpening, waxing, base repairs, binding adjustments, and full tunes. We also offer custom tuning for specific snow conditions or performance needs.
How often should I service my skis?
Regular servicing depends on how often you ski and the conditions you ski in. As a general rule:
- Wax your skis after every 5–10 days on snow.
- Sharpen edges after 10 days or sooner if skiing on icy conditions.
- Check for base repairs and tuning annually or more often if you ski frequently.
Do you service snowboards as well?
Yes, we service snowboards with the same care and attention as skis. From waxing and edge tuning to base repairs, our team is experienced in all aspects of snowboard maintenance.
What should I do if my skis have been damaged?
Bring them into our workshop as soon as possible. We can assess the damage and recommend the best course of action, whether it’s a base repair, edge replacement, or more extensive work. Our goal is to get your equipment back in top shape.
Can you adjust my bindings for new boots?
Absolutely! We can adjust your bindings to fit new boots and ensure they are properly calibrated for safety and performance.
Do I need to book an appointment for ski servicing?
We don’t take appointments for ski servicing, but the sooner you bring your skis in, the better. If you have an important date or need your skis serviced by a specific time, feel free to come and chat with us in advance so we can ensure your service is completed on time.
What happens if my skis aren’t ready on time?
While we work hard to meet deadlines, unexpected delays can happen during busy periods. If there’s any risk of your skis not being ready, we’ll let you know immediately and offer alternatives, such as loan skis, to keep you on the slopes.
Can you service my children’s skis or beginner equipment?
Yes, we cater to all levels of skiers, from beginners to experts. We take special care with children’s skis to ensure they are safe and easy to use.
Do you offer custom tuning for specific snow conditions?
Yes, we can tailor the servicing of your skis or snowboard to match the snow conditions, whether it’s icy pistes, powder, or spring slush. Let us know your preferences, and we’ll adjust the tune accordingly.
Do brand new skis need a service?
Brand new skis may not need a full service, but a few adjustments can make a big difference. A detune of the edges is often recommended to smooth out any overly sharp sections, improving control and reducing the risk of catching an edge. Additionally, while new skis come with factory wax, it’s typically a basic application that doesn’t last long. A proper hot wax ensures better glide and protects the base for longer durability.
